Mikel Merino linked to potential Real Madrid move

Real Madrid is reportedly considering a move for Arsenal midfielder Mikel Merino, with a potential transfer fee estimated between €30 million and €40 million. Reports suggest the 30-year-old Spaniard could be a target for the club in either January 2027 or the following summer.

Merino, who joined Arsenal from Real Sociedad for €32 million, is noted for his tactical intelligence, ability to press, and his knack for arriving late in the penalty area to score. His versatility has allowed him to play across the midfield and even serve as an emergency striker.

While Real Madrid has previously looked for midfield profiles to replace players like Toni Kroos and Casemiro, Merino's father, Miguel Merino, indicated that the club had previously opted for different player profiles. Merino is currently under contract with Arsenal until June 2028.
