Mikel Oyarzabal scores double as Spain beats Austria, draws transfer attention

Mikel Oyarzabal netted a brace in Spain's 3‑0 victory over Austria at the FIFA World Cup, raising his tournament tally to four goals and putting him in contention for the competition's top‑scorer race. The Real Sociedad captain said, "Estoy muy contento y feliz por la victoria y el pase," and added that he dedicated his celebratory hand‑raised gesture to his son, "para mi hijo, que me ha visto desde la grada."

Oyarzabal, who has a contract with Real Sociedad until 2028 and a €75 million release clause, attracted renewed interest from major European clubs and even clubs from the Middle East after his performance. Spain advanced to the round of 16, where it will face Portugal.

The striker also announced that his partner is expecting their second child, highlighting his focus on family alongside football.
