Mikhail Shishkin to present book in Plovdiv

Renowned Russian dissident writer Mikhail Shishkin will visit Plovdiv, Bulgaria, to present his book, ‘Mine. Essays on Russian Literature’. The event is scheduled for October 14 at 18:00 at the National Library ‘Ivan Vazov’.

Published by Kolibri Publishing and translated into Bulgarian by Dejan Kuranov, the book is described as a political polemic rather than a textbook. It explores the struggle of high Russian culture against institutionalized violence and political oppression.

Shishkin, who has lived in Switzerland for thirty years, is an award-winning novelist and publicist known for his work against the current Russian political regime. His works have been translated into over three hundred languages.
