Mikica Andrejić wins inaugural Dušan Mitić Car photography award

Mikica Andrejić, a photographer from Zaječar, has been named the first recipient of the Dušan Mitić Car award. The recognition was presented by the magazine Gledište for his photograph titled ‘Derbi’, which was entered in the life photography category.

The winning image depicts a man climbing a utility pole to gain a better view of a local football match while carrying a bottle of beer. The jury praised the photograph for its composition, rhythm, and its ability to capture a humorous and unique moment of everyday life that reflects fan passion and human ingenuity.

The award was established to honor the memory of Dušan Mitić Car, a prominent Niš-based photographer and chronicler of the city, on the fifth anniversary of his passing. The competition sought to support documentary and artistic photography, with categories including best life photography, best stage photography, and best black-and-white photography.
