MIKIMOTO unveils Vermeer‑inspired pearl earrings for Osaka exhibition

Japanese luxury jeweller MIKIMOTO has created three limited‑edition pearl earrings that draw directly from Johannes Vermeer’s 17th‑century painting “Girl with a Pearl Earring.” The pieces, crafted from white‑butterfly pearls, diamonds and 18‑carat white gold, are priced between ¥770,000 and ¥1,760,000.

The earrings are being sold at MIKIMOTO’s Ginza flagship store from August 1 and at the Osaka Umeda location (the ¥770,000 model only). Their release marks a special sponsorship of the Vermeer exhibition at Osaka’s Nakanoshima Museum of Art, which runs from 21 August to 27 September 2026 and features the original painting on loan from the Mauritshuis in The Hague.

The launch highlights the brand’s ongoing collaboration with the art world, echoing a previous sponsorship when the painting visited Japan in 2012.
