Mikis Theodorakis honored by grandson and musical tribute

Angelos Theodorakis, the composer's grandson, recently shared insights into their relationship, noting that it did not follow a traditional grandfather-grandson dynamic. He described feeling a sense of awe and intimidation due to the magnitude of his grandfather's personality and work, though he also recalled him as a tender person who was open to everyone.

In Thessaloniki, the First Municipal Community is organizing a musical-theatrical tribute titled ‘Mprosá stin eoniótita’ (Before Eternity). Scheduled for September 19, 2026, at the 31st Primary School in the 40 Churches area, the event will explore Theodorakis's life journey from his childhood in Chios to his significant creative and political contributions. The performance, featuring Charikleia Papari, aims to blend music, theater, and poetry to reflect on how his compositions became a voice for the people.
