Audi A6 e-tron sets Guinness World Record for electric vehicle range
Polish rally driver Miko Marczyk has set a new Guinness World Record for the longest distance traveled by a mass-produced electric vehicle on a single charge. Driving an Audi A6 Sportback e-tron Performance, Marczyk covered 1,338 kilometers (approximately 831 miles) without recharging.
The record-breaking journey took over 45 hours and was conducted on public roads across Poland, following a route along the Vistula River from Zakopane through Kraków, Warsaw, and Toruń to the Baltic Sea coast at Hel. Marczyk achieved an average energy consumption of just 7.09 kWh per 100 kilometers, which is significantly lower than the model’s official WLTP rating of 13.6 to 15.8 kWh/100 km.
Key factors contributing to the achievement included the vehicle’s aerodynamic design (with a drag coefficient of 0.21), the use of regenerative braking, and Marczyk’s hypermiling driving techniques, such as anticipatory driving and maintaining steady speeds. The vehicle utilized its 94.9 kWh net battery capacity to exceed the official WLTP range of approximately 777 kilometers by roughly 72 percent.
