Mikulov faces tourism pressure amid regional wine industry growth
The town of Mikulov is experiencing a significant transformation due to a surge in tourism. Local investor and hotelier Mike Volařík notes that while the influx of hundreds of thousands of visitors annually is an economic blessing, it places heavy pressure on the town's infrastructure and character. Volařík highlights the challenge of 'one-day tourism,' where visitors consume local resources without staying overnight, creating a different economic impact compared to long-term guests.
In support of the regional wine industry, the National Wine Centre has announced a series of professional training programs and seminars for the late summer and autumn. These educational sessions cover various aspects of viticulture, including modern enology, sommelier skills, and digital marketing strategies such as email campaigns, aimed at helping winemakers prepare for the upcoming harvest season.
