Milan and Monza authorities sign legality protocol for M5 metro extension

Authorities in Milan and Monza have signed a legality protocol to monitor the M5 metro line extension from Bignami to Monza. The agreement aims to prevent organized crime infiltration within the construction sites, specifically targeting contracts, subcontracts, and labor recruitment processes.

Signatories include the Prefectures of Milan and Monza and Brianza, the Municipality of Milan, MM Spa, the Lombardy Region, the Metropolitan City of Milan, and the municipalities of Monza, Sesto San Giovanni, and Cinisello Balsamo. Labor unions Fillea-Cgil, Filca-Cisl, and Feneal-Uil have also joined the initiative.

To implement these controls, the protocol establishes an information platform to collect data on companies and site activities. Law enforcement and the Anti-Mafia Investigative Directorate will utilize tools such as an 'Executor Registry' and weekly site reports to identify potential criminal interference throughout the entire supply chain.
