Milan and Turin airports consider merger

Technical evaluations regarding a potential merger between Sea Aeroporti and Sagat are expected to reach shareholders in September. The proposed integration aims to create a unified airport system to strengthen aviation infrastructure in Northwest Italy, combining the management of Milanese hubs (Malpensa and Linate) with Turin airport.

The project aligns with the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport’s National Airport Plan 2026-2035, which focuses on the development of regional and secondary airports. Key stakeholders involved in the evaluation include the Municipality of Milan, which holds a 54.8% majority stake in Sea, and F2i, which controls 45% of Sea and 100% of Sagat through 2i Aeroporti.

If the integration proceeds, the current shareholding structure of Sea is expected to remain unchanged, with the Municipality of Milan maintaining its majority position in the new corporate entity. Recent financial data shows Sea reported a net profit of 190.6 million euros in 2025, while Sagat reported a profit of 6.8 million euros for the same period.
