Milan Baroš to hold career farewell match in Ostrava
Former Czech striker Milan Baroš is holding a farewell benefit match at the Městský stadion in Ostrava to officially conclude his playing career. The event, which has already sold out, follows a previous retirement in 2020 that was limited by COVID-19 pandemic restrictions.
Baroš will be joined on the pitch by several prominent figures from the successful era of the Czech national team, including Petr Čech, Tomáš Rosický, Jan Koller, Marek Jankulovski, Patrik Berger, and Vladimír Šmicer. International guests such as Jerzy Dudek and Salif Diao are also expected to participate.
In a personal touch, Baroš has included his brother Simon and his two sons, Patrik and Matej, in the lineup. The 44-year-old former Liverpool and Galatasaray player, who remains the second-highest scorer in the history of the Czech national team, noted that the rapid sell-out of tickets was unexpected.
