Milan center-left prepares for mayoral primary framework

Political preparations are underway for the center-left primaries to select the mayoral candidate for Milan. A group of twelve experts and political representatives, referred to as “saggi” (wise men), is being formed to draft a charter of values for the coalition. This group aims to define the political boundaries and common commitments for the candidates, including a requirement to support the eventual winner.

Within the Democratic Party (PD), the selection process remains complex. Three potential candidates have emerged: Pierfrancesco Majorino, Anna Scavuzzo, and Lorenzo Pacini. The party leadership is currently evaluating whether to hold a broad primary or conduct an internal selection based on party statutes, which require specific support thresholds from local assemblies or members.
