Milan City Council unveils legal shield and mental‑health support for employees

The City of Milan announced a package of measures to address employee stress and legal exposure arising from ongoing urban‑planning investigations. The package includes a “legal shield” that will reimburse and, where appropriate, advance legal costs for staff involved in judicial proceedings up to the Court of Cassation.

A memorandum of understanding was signed with the main public‑sector unions (FP CGIL, CISL, UIL, CSA and RSU) guaranteeing the legal protection and establishing a psychological‑support programme intended to improve workplace climate. Vice‑Mayor Anna Scavuzzo said the agreement will help restore administrative efficiency.

The agreement also commits the municipality to reinforce staffing in the Urban Regeneration Directorate and the Single Desk for Building, and to increase resources in line with the city’s employment plan. Natascia Tosoni was appointed president of the Urban Regeneration Commission, and Mayor Giuseppe Sala confirmed his continued attention to the investigations, including the recent acquittals in the “Torre Milano” case.
