San Siro: Milan and Inter race to build new stadium for Euro 2032

AC Milan and Inter Milan are advancing a joint project to build a new stadium at the San Siro site, a move critical to ensuring Milan can host matches during the Euro 2032 tournament. The current Meazza stadium does not meet UEFA structural standards, making the new facility essential for the city's candidacy.

The clubs have reportedly secured €354 million in financing through San Siro Spa. The proposed timeline includes finalizing administrative and financial details by October 2026, starting construction by March 2027, and completing the project by the summer of 2031. This schedule aims to provide a fully operational venue one year before the European championship begins.

However, the project faces significant pressure from strict deadlines and potential bureaucratic hurdles. The FIGC must formally present the five Italian host cities and their candidate stadiums to UEFA by October 1, 2026. Any delays in the construction roadmap could result in Milan being excluded from the tournament's official venues.
