Milan Fashion Week highlights brand identity shifts for Gucci and Prada
The Spring/Summer 2027 Milan Fashion Week showcased a significant trend of major luxury brands reinterpreting and refining their core brand identities.
Gucci, under the direction of Demna, presented a collection titled “The Store Show,” which explored the concept of “Gucciness” through a mix of sharp, glamorous styles and a “bad preppy” aesthetic. Prada focused on a streamlined collection centered on the brand’s signature knee-length skirts, experimenting with silhouette and materials. Other notable presentations included Diesel, which emphasized a bold and sexy message, and Dolce & Gabbana, which utilized heavy ornamentation and craftsmanship to reinforce its Sicilian roots.
In addition to brand identity shifts, the collections addressed seasonal practicalities, such as “utility luxe” from Max Mara and “effortless craft” from brands like Brunello Cucinelli to combat rising temperatures. The event also highlighted the importance of Italian manufacturing, with reports focusing on the specialized footwear production hubs in the Brenta Riviera region.
