Jarno Widar wins Tour of Guangxi general classification

Belgian cyclist Jarno Widar of Lotto-Intermarché secured his first WorldTour general classification victory at the 2026 Tour of Guangxi. Widar clinched the title by winning the final stage at Nongla, outperforming established riders including Tom Pidcock and Louis Barré on the decisive climb.

In the final stage, Widar launched a powerful attack in the closing meters to distance Pidcock, who finished second, and Barré, who finished third. This victory follows Widar’s recent success at Tre Valli Varesine, marking a significant breakthrough for the 20-year-old.

Earlier in the race, Milan Fretin of Cofidis won Stage 5 in a mass sprint, while Paul Magnier maintained the overall lead despite a crash near the finish line. The final general classification saw Widar leading Pidcock by nine seconds, with Barré finishing 16 seconds behind the winner. Juan Ayuso finished sixth in the overall standings.
