Milan healthcare updates: New medical leadership and oncology emergency protocol

Healthcare developments in the Milan region include new leadership in obstetrics and gynecology and a new emergency protocol for cancer patients.

Dr. Stefano Bogliolo has been appointed as the new director of the Obstetrics and Gynecology complex structure for Asst Nord Milano at the Sesto San Giovanni hospital. An expert in minimally invasive and robotic gynecological surgery, Bogliolo has performed over 4,000 operations and has extensive experience in managing endometrial, cervical, ovarian, and vulvar tumors.

Additionally, Ospedale Niguarda and the Fondazione IRCCS Istituto Nazionale dei Tumori (INT) have established a shared operational protocol to manage emergencies for oncology patients. Because the INT does not have its own emergency room, the protocol ensures that patients requiring urgent care can transition to Niguarda without interrupting their specialized treatment. The initiative facilitates direct communication between Niguarda’s emergency staff and INT oncologists to share clinical information and maintain continuity of care.
