Milan introduces new heating regulations and schedules
The Milan administration has announced new regulations for the 2026/2027 heating season, beginning October 15. The plan aims to balance citizen well-being with environmental protection by controlling heat usage to reduce atmospheric pollutant emissions.
The implementation will follow a two-phase approach. From October 15 to October 30, a transitional phase will allow heating systems to operate for a maximum of 8 hours per day between the hours of 5:00 and 23:00. Starting October 31, the ordinary regime will take effect, permitting up to 13 hours of daily operation within the same time window.
Temperature limits have also been established: residential buildings are capped at 19 degrees Celsius, while industrial and artisanal activities are limited to 18 degrees Celsius. This thermal season is scheduled to conclude on April 15, 2027.
