Vučić addresses Mladić funeral and regional tensions in Balkans

Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić, in an interview with CNN, addressed the recent funeral of Ratko Mladić. Vučić emphasized that the event was not a state funeral and did not include official state honors, though the state provided necessary logistics because Mladić was a former Yugoslav army colonel. He noted that between 120,000 and 150,000 people attended the ceremony and argued that the large turnout reflects a sense of injustice felt by the Serbian people toward the international community.

In Montenegro, political tensions are rising in Bar, where local officials have warned against external efforts to incite ethnic divisions. Meanwhile, in the Montenegrin Parliament, the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) accused MP Radinka Ćinćur of enabling Andrija Mandić to retain his position as Speaker of the Parliament by failing to attend a session intended to discuss his removal following his comments on Mladić.

In Bosnia and Herzegovina, political campaigning continues with Zdenko Lučić, a candidate for the Presidency, promising to lead the country toward EU membership. His opponent, Slaven Kovačević, has challenged Lučić's wartime record. Additionally, Milan Knežević of the Democratic People's Party (DNP) in Montenegro has expressed strong support for Aleksandar Vučić and the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS), advocating for closer ties between Montenegro and Serbia.
