Milan: Man dies after crashing stolen scooter on closed overpass

A man approximately 50 years old died in Milan after crashing a stolen scooter on the Monte Ceneri overpass during the night of August 14-15. The incident occurred shortly after 10:30 PM on the Bacula section of the overpass, which was closed to traffic at the time to mitigate noise for local residents.

Preliminary investigations suggest the rider lost control of the Kymco Agility 125 and struck the side barriers. No other vehicles were involved. The man was transported to San Carlo Hospital in critical condition but passed away shortly before midnight.

Local police have discovered that the scooter had been reported stolen just hours before the crash. Because the victim was not carrying identification, authorities are working to identify him and determine his connection to the theft, including whether he was involved in the crime or acquired the vehicle from someone else. Investigators are currently reviewing surveillance footage to reconstruct the events leading up to the crash.
