Milan Mayor criticizes insufficient police presence after violent protests

Milan Mayor Beppe Sala has criticized the government for insufficient police presence following violent protests in the city. Speaking after clashes in Piazza Duomo, where protesters reportedly threw extinguishers and bins at law enforcement, Sala noted that the number of officers appeared inadequate to manage the large and violent crowd.

While expressing strong opposition to violence, the Mayor emphasized the need for better preparedness to handle such incidents and noted that investigations are underway to assess the significant damage caused to the city center. He suggested that both private entities and the municipality may seek compensation from those responsible.
