Milan nearing deal to appoint Eintracht Frankfurt's Markus Krösche as technical director

AC Milan has reached a preliminary agreement with Markus Krösche, the current technical director of Eintracht Frankfurt, to take over the technical direction of the Italian club. The appointment, which follows the hiring of head coach Rúben Amorim, is conditional on Frankfurt releasing Krösche from his contract that runs until 2028. Milan also plans to bring Krösche’s long‑time associate Timmo Hardung to serve as sporting director, completing a German‑styled management tandem.

The deal is part of Milan’s strategy to rebuild its roster through a “player‑trading” model that focuses on scouting young talent, developing them and selling at high value. Frankfurt has so far resisted, arguing that Krösche’s early departure would disrupt their summer planning, which is scheduled for March‑April, while Milan prefers a June move. The club hopes to finalise the contract in the coming days, after which Krösche would have full authority to reshape Milan’s transfer policy.
