Milan officials conduct 69 extraordinary waste removal operations

Milan officials have reported conducting 69 extraordinary interventions to remove unauthorized waste between January and late July. This effort is intended to supplement routine cleaning operations in the city.

The measures follow concerns regarding Piazza Garibaldi, where residents reported significant degradation and rat infestations. Vice Mayor Saimon Gaiotto noted that while the administration and Gruppo Cap perform regular pest control and sewer maintenance, addressing waste in private areas remains a challenge. Officials also noted that sewer blockages are frequently caused by foreign objects such as umbrellas and towels.
