Italy reports multiple robberies and ATM bombings
Italian authorities have reported several distinct criminal incidents involving robberies and ATM attacks. In Puglia, multiple banks in Trani, Andria, and Corato were targeted using the ‘marmotta’ technique, where explosives are inserted into ATM slots to force them open. The attack in Corato caused significant damage to a BDM bank branch.
In Milan, police arrested a 48-year-old man for an aggravated robbery. The suspect allegedly threatened a 35-year-old victim with a cutter, forcing him to withdraw 500 euros from an ATM near the Porto di Mare metro station.
Additionally, a separate incident involved the theft of an e-bike in the Milan area. Using GPS tracking, Carabinieri traced the device to Cologne, where they recovered the bike along with other stolen equipment and arrested a 34-year-old man for receiving stolen goods.
