Milan prosecutors seek life sentence for bakery shooting suspect

Milan prosecutors have requested a life sentence for 22-year-old Raffaele Mascia for the murder of Ivan Disar, 49, and the attempted murder of Pavel Koresko, 26. The incident occurred on February 15, 2025, at a bakery in Piazzale Gambara, Milan, owned by the defendant's father.

According to the prosecution, the shooting was a disproportionate reaction to the defendant being annoyed by the two Ukrainian customers, who were intoxicated but not behaving in a threatening or harassing manner. Investigators found no evidence to support the defense's claim that the victims had threatened the defendant or his father with death.

Due to the lack of corroboration regarding these alleged threats, the prosecution has also requested that the Milan Court of Assizes forward documents to evaluate whether the defendant's father provided false statements during the initial investigation.
