Milan signs French defender Sankhoun Diawara for €3 million
AC Milan have finalized the purchase of Sankhoun Diawara, a 2006‑born left‑footed defender from French club Troyes, for an estimated €3 million plus a future sell‑on clause. The 1.90 m, left‑back can operate as a centre‑back in the three‑defender system of head coach Ruben Amorim and is expected to provide depth behind Strahinja Pavlovic.
Diawara will arrive in Milan for a standard medical examination before signing his contract. In the 2023‑24 season at Troyes he made 24 appearances, scored once and helped the club gain promotion to Ligue 1. He has represented France at under‑19 level and has Senegalese, Malian and Guinean heritage. The transfer reflects Milan’s strategy of investing in young talent, guided by the scouting team led by Donato Lomonte and data analyst Bobby Gardiner.
