On 7 August 1995, during the Croatian military operation known as Oluja, the Croatian Air Force bombed a refugee convoy on Petrovačka road near the village of Janjile (Bosanski Petrovac). The strike killed ten civilians, including four children, and is remembered as a war‑crime incident.

Thirty‑one years later, on 7 August 2026, commemorations were held at the site. Serbian Minister of Labour and Veterans’ Protection Radan Ostojić, along with other officials and families of victims, laid wreaths and candles. Ostojić described the bombing as “ethnic cleansing” and called it “a crime without punishment.” Serbian authorities have filed charges against four retired Croatian pilots, while Croatia rejects Serbian jurisdiction and maintains the operation was a legitimate military action. The International Court of Justice in 2015 classified the broader Operation Oluja as ethnic cleansing, though not genocide. The ceremony underscored the lasting demand for accountability and remembrance of the victims.
