Milan strengthens cinematic status with high production volume
Milan has solidified its status as a major filming location, with the city issuing 414 audiovisual production authorizations during the first half of 2026. High-profile productions, including the recent filming of ‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’, have utilized the city's landmarks. Popular filming sites include Piazza Duomo, Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, Piazza della Scala, and the Brera district.
Complementing the city's active film industry, the Museo Interattivo del Cinema (MIC) is hosting an outdoor film series on its terrace through September 1, 2026. Promoted by Cineteca Milano, the ‘Musicali’ program features musicals and biographical films, such as ‘Pink Floyd: The Wall’ and ‘Elvis’, screened in their original language with Italian subtitles. The series will conclude on September 1 with a special screening of the restored 1926 silent film ‘The Storm Bride’, accompanied by a live musical score.
