Milan to Host UN Artificial Intelligence Hub, Says Assolombarda President

Assolombarda president Alvise Biffi announced that Milan and its surrounding territory are being positioned as a United Nations hub for artificial‑intelligence governance. The proposal, presented with AmCham Italy representatives Simone Crolla and Stefano Lucchini, aims to integrate "Physical AI" – the convergence of intelligent models, robotics and advanced automation – into the city’s industrial ecosystem.

Biffi highlighted the strategic importance of the United States as Milan’s primary export market, noting more than €8 billion in trade, and argued that the hub could unlock productivity gains and reverse a decade of stagnant growth in Italy. The initiative is linked to the forgIA ecosystem, which Assolombarda has promoted to foster AI development and global collaboration.
