Milan to introduce stricter penalties for illegal micromobility parking

Milan is preparing to introduce stricter sanctions to combat illegal parking by two-wheeled vehicles, including motorcycles, scooters, e-scooters, and bicycles. The municipal administration aims to address the narrowing of sidewalks caused by these vehicles, which poses significant safety risks to pedestrians and individuals with disabilities.

Proposed measures include increased fines and a new system that would allow micromobility sharing operators to seek reimbursement directly from users who fail to park correctly. The Italian Union of the Blind and Visually Impaired has highlighted how improperly parked vehicles create obstacle courses on sidewalks, hindering mobility for those with visual impairments.
