Milan unveils massive mural honoring singer Ornella Vanoni

A massive mural honoring Italian singer Ornella Vanoni has been unveiled in Milan's Porta Nuova district. Created by American conceptual artist Hank Willis Thomas, the artwork covers over 850 square meters on a building located at via Melchiorre Gioia 1.

Entitled ‘Flashback’, the piece depicts Vanoni in a long red dress holding a microphone. The dress itself is a digital collage composed of her various album covers, merging her discography into the visual fabric of the portrait. The project was launched in collaboration with Collistar as part of the Milano Beauty Week and is scheduled to remain on display until August 2027.

The tribute coincides with the recent announcement that Vanoni will be inducted into Milan's Famedio on November 2, joining other significant historical figures of the city.
