Milan welcomes WAU, the city's first Malaysian restaurant

Milan has welcomed its first Malaysian restaurant, WAU, located in the Naviglio Pavese area at via Ascanio Sforza 65. Founded by mother and son Dato’ Freida Pilus and Fareed Hamzah, the establishment aims to provide an authentic culinary experience led by executive chef Fairuz Zani Bin Ahamad.

The restaurant features 60 seats and focuses on traditional Malaysian flavors through the use of 'rempah', fresh spice pastes made daily including turmeric, ginger, galanga, lemongrass, cloves, and star anise. The name WAU refers to a traditional Malaysian kite, symbolizing a bridge between Malaysian roots and Italian conviviality.
