Italian youth contests emphasize sustainability, culture and urban renewal

A series of competitions and awards for students and young professionals were announced across Italy.

The University of Camerino hosted the first "Geoscienze per il futuro" contest, awarding projects on sustainable resource management and hydro‑electric generators. Milan’s fifth Premio Scrittura Giovani recognised more than 160 submissions on the theme “Le città che siamo”. The Brixia Film Fest opened its 2026 call, inviting short and feature films to explore the “Splendida Catastrofe” theme. Reggio Emilia’s Ordine degli Architetti concluded the European "Architetture Minime" competition, rewarding compact, circular housing designs. In Cosenza, the municipal administration and schools completed the inaugural project teaching city history through a school‑work‑learning pathway. Bologna’s Giacomo Venturi prize launched its sixth edition, focusing on accessible urban housing and inviting university‑level proposals. Each initiative aims to involve young people in addressing environmental challenges, preserving cultural heritage and shaping inclusive, resilient cities.
