Milano Blooms brings floral workshops to Gallarate hospital
The Milano Blooms association, in collaboration with the Lombardy Region and Asst Valle Olona, organized a floral workshop at the Sant’Antonio Abate Hospital in Gallarate on October 5. The initiative aims to support patient well-being by integrating culture and creativity into healthcare paths.
Volunteers from Milano Blooms recover flowers that would otherwise be discarded from weddings and major events, such as those held at Teatro alla Scala. These flowers are repurposed into floral arrangements and used as the basis for workshops designed to provide patients—including those with cognitive disorders, oncology patients, or those in post-operative recovery—with opportunities for social interaction, sensory stimulation, and emotional relief.
Regional Culture Councilor Francesca Caruso and Healthcare Director Francesca Crespi emphasized that while art does not replace medical treatment, it serves to enhance the human experience within hospitals by fostering beauty, connection, and trust during the healing process.
