Fire near Milan Central Station forces hotel evacuation and destroys 13 cars
On the morning of 5 August 2026 a blaze erupted on Via Mauro Macchi, close to Milan’s Central Station. The fire quickly spread to a line of parked vehicles, engulfing a total of 13 cars; five were completely destroyed while eight suffered severe damage. Thick black smoke prompted the immediate evacuation of the adjacent Starhotel, temporarily displacing about 130 guests and staff. No injuries or intoxications were reported.
