Milan's Isola ZTL Delays Electronic Enforcement to September 7
The limited‑traffic zone (ZTL) covering Milan’s Isola district will begin automated electronic monitoring on Monday, 7 September, after a postponement from the originally scheduled 20 June date. Cameras will be activated at that time, and the system will automatically issue sanctions for unauthorized vehicle entries during the night‑time window of 19:30 to 06:00.
Residents and domiciliates who already hold a parking pass have been linked to a new digital ZTL pass viewable in the city’s citizen portal. Vehicle owners without a pass must register their licence plates on the municipal website or at the local police command (Zone 9). Exemptions apply to motorcycles, taxis, NCC vehicles, emergency services, disabled‑badge vehicles and other legally exempt categories. Additional concessions have been granted for night‑shift workers, businesses with Filoviaria 9 or 10 subscriptions, hotels and other commercial premises that can transmit licence‑plate data to the city.
The postponement follows consultations with residents and local businesses, and the municipality will continue to enforce existing access restrictions even while electronic sanctions remain inactive until the September activation.
