Milas school placement plan draws criticism from Eğitim Bir-Sen

The Muğla branch of the Eğitim Bir-Sen union has expressed strong opposition to a school placement plan prepared for the 2026-2027 academic year in the Milas district. Branch President Önder Uçak stated that the plan, necessitated by school construction, reinforcement, and repair works, was implemented without sufficient planning and could cause grievances for students, parents, and teachers.

A primary concern involves the Mehmet Akif Ersoy Çok Programlı Lisesi campus, where primary school students are slated to be placed alongside high school students. Under the plan, Cumhuriyet Anadolu Lisesi would occupy one part of the campus, while Merkez İlkokulu and Dr. Mete Ersoy İlkokulu would occupy the other. The union argues that placing over 1,100 primary and kindergarten students in a facility designed for high schoolers is inappropriate and that using wire fences to divide the playground fails to meet the safety and developmental needs of younger children.

Additionally, the union criticized the plan to move Mehmet Akif Ersoy ÇPL to a different building, noting the significant workload required to relocate technical workshops and infrastructure. The union estimates that the current lack of planning will affect 17 schools and approximately 6,700 students, forcing them into dual-shift education systems and causing uncertainty for families.
