Uzbek bride detained after fleeing wedding with 5 million TL in jewelry
An Uzbek national, Mamura Burkhanova, has been detained following allegations that she fled a traditional three-day wedding in Milas, Muğla, taking approximately 5 million TL worth of gold and jewelry.
The wedding, held for Mustafa Ateşoğlu, was a large-scale event celebrating Yörük culture, including professional oil wrestling matches. Following the ceremony, the Ateşoğlu family reported that the bride had disappeared along with significant amounts of jewelry, cash, and a mobile phone.
Burkhanova surrendered to police and denied the theft allegations. She claimed she only took 20 quarter gold coins and 226,000 TL, asserting that the remaining jewelry was held by her father-in-law. She further alleged that she fled due to threats and insults from her husband. Police searches of her residence did not recover the missing items, and an investigation into the matter is ongoing.
