Milazzo inaugurates new ANMI headquarters named after Nino La Rosa

The new branch office of the Associazione Nazionale Marinai d'Italia (ANMI) was inaugurated in Milazzo. The facility, located within the ‘La Noria’ complex on via Giuseppe Piaggia, has been provided free of charge by the La Rosa Foundation.

The headquarters is named in honor of Lieutenant Nino La Rosa, a Milazzo native and Royal Navy officer who was awarded the Silver Medal for Military Valor. La Rosa died on August 22, 1940, during World War II while defending the torpedo boat Calipso in the Gulf of Tobruk.

The ceremony was attended by Mayor Pippo Midili, maritime authorities including Rear Admiral Lorenzano Di Renzo, religious figures, and representatives from various combatant associations. The new site aims to serve as a community hub to promote historical memory, patriotism, and solidarity, particularly among younger generations.
