Milcho Manchevski's documentary on Kočani disco fire premieres in Sarajevo

The documentary filmDobri ljudi’ (Good People) by Macedonian director Milcho Manchevski had its world premiere at the 32nd Sarajevo Film Festival. The film focuses on the tragic fire at the Puls disco in Kočani, which occurred on March 16, 2025, and resulted in 63 deaths and more than 200 injuries.

Manchevski filmed the documentary with a minimal crew, beginning production just one month after the incident to capture the immediate experiences and emotions of survivors and those who attempted to save lives. The director noted that the film serves as both a documentary and a record of the event, aiming to tell the people's stories without intermediaries.

Investigations revealed the fire was caused by pyrotechnics used during a concert and that the disco was operating without a valid permit while violating safety standards. Legal proceedings began in November 2025, with the Skopje prosecutor's office charging 35 individuals and three legal entities with crimes against public safety.
