Milcho Manchevski’s new film to premiere at Tokyo Film Festival
Milcho Manchevski’s latest film, ‘Sister, Brother and the Shaft’, is set to have its world premiere at the Tokyo International Film Festival on October 30. The film has been selected for the festival’s prestigious A-category competition.
Manchevski and members of the cast will attend the festival opening on October 26. Following the premiere in the festival’s largest hall, the director and actors will participate in discussions with the public and international media. Additional screenings are scheduled for November 2 and 3.
The film is described as a satirical comedy and a poem about a brother and sister living on the margins of society in modern-day Macedonia. The plot follows the siblings as they steal monuments and even manhole covers to sell them as scrap metal. Producer Jane Kortoshev expressed pride in the film’s return to Asia, noting the significance of a Macedonian production appearing at one of the world’s most renowned film festivals.
