Milcho Mančevski's 'Dobri lugje' documentary premieres at Sarajevo Film Festival
Documentary filmmaker Milcho Mančevski has completed the feature-length film “Dobri lugje”, dedicated to the tragedy of the Pulse nightclub fire in Kocani, North Macedonia, on 16 March 2025 that claimed 63 young lives. The film presents personal testimonies from survivors and highlights themes of human solidarity and grief.
Financed independently after Mančevski was placed on a film agency blacklist, he described the project as a tribute "for children, for grandchildren". Using a minimal, austere visual style, the documentary avoids interpretation, focusing instead on listening to the survivors' voices.
“Dobri lugje” will have its world premiere at the Sarajevo Film Festival on 16 August, where it will compete in the festival’s official selection for awards, the most prestigious event in Southeast Europe’s film calendar.
