Mile Kekin Reveals Origin of Hit Song “Pitala si me” from 1999 CD Disposal Incident

Ahead of his new album *Sabrana nedjela*, Croatian singer‑songwriter Mile Kekin posted on social media about his early musical life and the moment that inspired one of Hladno pivo’s most famous songs, “Pitala si me”. He recalled his mother Spasa’s indifference to his music, his father Josip’s love of diverse sounds, and a family anecdote in which his mother discovered Josip had slipped fifty kuna into a singer’s bra.

Kekin explained that the decisive spark came in 1999, just before the release of his own album *Pobjeda*. In a record‑label warehouse he saw two workers discarding brand‑new CDs of a domestic rock band, empty plastic cases piled high. The sight of the wasted material struck him and later became the lyrical and melodic basis for “Pitala si me”. He reflected on how the music industry has changed over the decades, noting the contrast between that moment and today’s digital era.
