Milena Apostolaki criticizes Greek government management and insurance reforms

PASOK Member of Parliament Milena Apostolaki has issued sharp criticisms against the Greek government regarding its management of European funds and proposed social security reforms.

Speaking on ERTnews, Apostolaki described the government's handling of the Recovery and Resilience Facility as a “crushing failure,” noting that two-thirds of the 195 planned actions have faced decommitments or credit reductions. She further alleged that the state's administrative structure has been used to facilitate corruption through direct awards and non-competitive tenders, while also contributing to rising inequality through tax policies that disproportionately affect vulnerable citizens.

In a separate parliamentary debate regarding a new bill on professional insurance, Apostolaki opposed measures that shift financial risk from the state to individual workers. She warned that the proposed system could create a “two-speed” social security model, where tax incentives primarily benefit high earners while leaving low- and middle-income workers without adequate protections. She emphasized that professional insurance should complement, rather than replace, the constitutionally guaranteed public social security system.
