Milena Vuković identifies social media as a driver of peer violence

Milena Vuković, Vice President of the Civil Movement URA, has identified social media as a primary driver of peer violence and juvenile delinquency. Speaking at a session of the Committee for Health, Labor, and Social Welfare, Vuković highlighted that family issues, the environment in which children grow up, and a lack of trust in state institutions are critical factors contributing to these trends.

Vuković expressed concern regarding the lack of confidence citizens have in the healthcare and education systems. She noted that parents often feel the need to protect their children from teachers, rather than seeing educators as partners in development. Additionally, she called for the strengthening of social services in local communities, noting widespread public dissatisfaction with their current performance.

To address these issues, Vuković emphasized the need to focus on the perpetrators of violence as well as the victims, and urged for a societal shift toward better parenting and more robust institutional support for families.
