Slovenian family killed in Calabria B&B explosion

A Slovenian family on vacation in Calabria, Italy, has been entirely killed following an explosion and subsequent fire at the Villa Mary B&B in Mileto. The incident occurred on August 25 around 20:30.

Following the blast, the three family members suffered severe second and third-degree burns. The father, Izidor Kobolt, died on August 27 at a burn center in Palermo. The mother, Petra Jamnik Kobolt, passed away shortly after at a burn center in Catania. The youngest member, 10-year-old Ema, died at a burn center in Bari, marking the final fatality of the tragedy.

The Vibo Valentia Prosecutor's Office has placed the B&B under seizure as investigations continue. Authorities are examining several possibilities, including a gas leak or an issue with a gas cylinder, as the cause of the explosion.

In Slovenia, the municipality of Ravne na Koroškem has declared three days of mourning to honor the victims.
