Mileto B&B explosion kills two Slovenian tourists

A tragic explosion at the Villa Mary B&B in Mileto, Italy, has resulted in the deaths of two members of a Slovenian tourist family. The father died shortly after the incident, and his 44-year-old wife has now passed away in a Catania hospital due to severe burns. Their 10-year-old daughter remains in critical condition at a specialized burn center in Bari.

Two Carabinieri officers, who were off-duty at the time, are being praised for their heroic intervention. The officers entered the smoke-filled building before emergency services arrived, successfully rescuing the young girl and alerting rescuers. The SIM Carabinieri of Vibo Valentia expressed pride in their actions, noting that their sense of duty prevented even more tragic consequences.

The Vibo Valentia Public Prosecutor's Office has placed the structure under seizure and launched an investigation to determine the cause of the explosion. Authorities are currently examining the building's gas system and potential gas leaks to reconstruct the events of August 25.
