Mileto hosts historical reenactment of Norman capital era

The city of Mileto will host the historical event ‘La Corte di Ruggero d’Altavilla – Accadde a Mileto Capitale Normanna’ on Sunday, October 25, 2026. The project, promoted by the Municipality of Mileto, has received economic support from the Italian Ministry of Culture through the National Fund for Historical Reenactment.

The event aims to celebrate Mileto’s history as a political, military, and religious hub of Norman Calabria and Sicily under Count Roger I of Hauteville. The day will feature free activities, including guided tours of the National Museum and the Medieval Archaeological Park of Mileto Antica, a large historical procession, and various performances.

Under the artistic direction of Angelica Artemisia Pedatella and the BA17 Company, the manifestation incorporates theater professionals to blend historical reconstruction with artistic expression. Mayor Salvatore Fortunato Giordano emphasized that the initiative seeks to reclaim the city’s identity and serve as a driver for local tourism and cultural promotion.
