Miley Cyrus’ ‘Bass Persuades’ falls from No. 1 to No. 157 on Billboard 200

Miley Cyrus’ new album, ‘Bass Persuades’, has experienced a historic decline on the Billboard 200 charts. After debuting at number one with approximately 61,000 equivalent album units—her first chart-topping achievement since 2013’s ‘Bangerz’—the album plummeted 156 places to number 157 in its second week.

This drop represents one of the steepest declines for a number-one debut in history. While Bon Jovi’s 2018 album ‘This House Is Not For Sale’ saw a larger fall to number 169, that instance involved an older release. For a brand-new album, Cyrus’ decline is a notable outlier. Analysts suggest the rapid fall may be due to the absence of a major radio hit, as the title track reached only number 35 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Despite the commercial volatility on the charts, demand for live performances remains high. Approximately 1.5 million fans registered for tickets to her upcoming shows at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, which are scheduled for October 16 and 18.
