Militant attacks kill dozens of police in Pakistan's Hangu and Swat districts

Militant groups carried out two separate attacks on police facilities in Pakistan's north‑west. In Hangu district, a coordinated assault using drones, improvised explosives and heavy weapons on a police station left eleven police officers dead and more than twenty wounded; fifteen militants were also killed. The attack, suspected to be linked to the Tehreek‑i‑Taliban Pakistan (TTP), followed a similar strike a week earlier. In Swat district, a suicide bomber detonated an explosive vest near a police precinct during a protest, killing nine people, including four police officers, and injuring about twenty. No group claimed responsibility for the Swat attack, but officials again pointed to the TTP insurgency that has intensified since the Taliban takeover in Afghanistan. The incidents raise the death toll from security‑force attacks in Pakistan to over 800 this year.
